What a hybrid service includes

Engine oil and filter change (most hybrids use 0W-20)

Hybrid-specific items we check

12V aux battery. Often overlooked. On most hybrids, the 12V battery handles dashboard electronics, the startup sequence, and accessory loads. When it fails, the car won’t start even if the main hybrid battery is fine. Typical life 3 to 5 years.

Inverter coolant. A separate coolant system cools the power electronics. Different fluid from engine coolant — usually a pink or red long-life type. We check level and condition.

Regenerative braking pad wear. Hybrid brake pads wear much more slowly than conventional because regen braking does most of the deceleration. Front pads on a hybrid often last 80,000 to 150,000 km.

Tyre wear pattern. Heavier hybrids with regen braking can wear tyres unusually. We inspect for unusual patterns.

Battery warning lights. Diagnostic scan reveals any hybrid system issues needing attention.

What we don't do

Hybrid traction battery repair or replacement. The main high-voltage battery is warrantied by the manufacturer for 8 to 10 years on most hybrids. Failures go to the dealer for warranty replacement. Out-of-warranty battery work requires specialist equipment and high-voltage safety training — we refer to specialist hybrid repair shops.
High-voltage system work. The orange cables between battery and motor carry 200 to 700 volts. We don’t disturb these — we service the conventional components around them.

Everything else is standard car work.

Warranty protection. Log book servicing at a qualified workshop preserves your hybrid warranty (including the hybrid battery warranty). Australian Consumer Law is explicit on this.

Faster turnaround. Dealer service departments often book 2 to 3 weeks out. We can usually fit a hybrid service within a week.
