Does servicing here void my warranty?
No. This is the single most common myth in the new-car industry. Australian Consumer Law and the ACCC are clear:
"Consumers have the right to have their new car serviced by a qualified mechanic of their choice... A dealer cannot refuse a warranty claim on the basis that servicing was done outside the dealership, provided servicing met the manufacturer's schedule and used fit-for-purpose parts."
Fit-for-purpose parts means OEM quality or better — same specification as the manufacturer requires. We use exactly those parts. We stamp your log book with our details, the Repco Authorised Service Centre stamp, the date, and the kilometres. Every log book service we do is ACCC-compliant.
If a dealer ever tells you otherwise, they are misrepresenting the law. Report it to the ACCC.
Log book service pricing by manufacturer
These are guides for the most common service interval on each brand. Exact pricing depends on your vehicle’s specification, engine, and the specific service due (some intervals include spark plugs, coolant, transmission fluid — those cost more).
- Toyota: Corolla, Camry, RAV4, Hilux, Prado, Landcruiser — from $239 for a standard interval, $450 to $750 for a major interval (60,000 or 90,000 km).
- "Mazda: CX-3, CX-5, CX-9, Mazda3, Mazda6, BT-50 — from $269 standard, $520 to $820 major.
- "Hyundai / Kia: i30, Tucson, Santa Fe, Sportage, Sorento — from $249 standard, $480 to $780 major.
- "Ford: Ranger, Everest, Focus — from $279 standard, $550 to $900 major.
- "Mitsubishi: Outlander, Triton, Pajero Sport — from $259 standard.
- "Nissan: Navara, X-Trail, Patrol — from $279 standard.
- "Subaru: Forester, Outback, XV, Impreza — from $269 standard. Boxer engines have specific oil requirements we follow.
- "Volkswagen / Audi / Skoda: Golf, Tiguan, Amarok, A3, A4, Q5, Octavia — from $389 standard, $750 to $1,200 major. Long-interval oil (VW 504.00 / 507.00 spec) is expensive but correct.
- "BMW / Mini: 3-series, 5-series, X3, X5 — from $449 standard, $850 to $1,400 major. BMW LL-01 or LL-04 spec oil used.
- "Mercedes-Benz: C-class, E-class, GLC, GLE — from $489 standard, $890 to $1,500 major. MB 229.5 / 229.51 spec oil.
- "Isuzu Ute: D-Max, MU-X — from $269 standard, $550 to $850 major.

What happens in a log book service
- "Before you arrive: We pull your manufacturer's exact schedule for your vehicle's year, model, engine, and current kilometres. Every item scheduled at that interval gets done.
- "On the day: Car on the hoist. Oil and filter changed with the correct specification oil. All other items on the schedule inspected or replaced. Diagnostic scan for fault codes. Safety inspection on a hoist, not just a visual. Fluid top-ups. Road test if needed.
- "The log book: Stamped with our name, our address, the service date, the kilometres, and the technician's signature. Digital log book stamping for brands that require it (BMW, Audi, Mercedes, VW post-2015) — we have the diagnostic tools for this.
- "Your records: We keep a digital copy of every service, so if you ever lose the physical book, we can reprint and stamp.
What we use
Oil: Manufacturer-specified grade and specification. Not generic. A BMW doesn’t get Valvoline 10W-40; it gets LL-01 or LL-04 spec 5W-30. A modern Mazda Skyactiv-X engine gets a 0W-20 Mazda-spec oil. We don’t shortcut on oil.
Filters: OEM or premium aftermarket (Mahle, Mann, Bosch). We can fit genuine if you prefer and pay the difference.
Spark plugs: NGK, Denso, or genuine — whatever your engine was designed for. Iridium plugs are not optional on modern direct-injection engines.
Transmission fluid: Exactly the spec your manufacturer requires. A Hyundai automatic takes SP-IV. A BMW ZF 8-speed takes a specific ATF.
Cross-contaminating transmission fluids destroys automatics.
Dealer vs independent — real price comparison
A customer brought us their 2022 Toyota RAV4 for a 40,000 km service last month. Toyota dealer quote: $620. Our price for the same job with the same quality parts: $329. Log book stamped, warranty intact, same oil, same filters.
This is not unusual. Dealers carry overheads (showrooms, commission structures, advertising, branded waiting rooms) that independents don’t. The mechanical work is the same.
When to NOT use an independent workshop
If your car has a specific manufacturer warranty issue (transmission, hybrid battery, ECU problem), the dealer needs to do that warranty work. Independent workshops can’t claim against the manufacturer’s warranty. We handle the regular maintenance; the dealer handles genuine warranty repairs.
If your car is still in its first year of ownership and you want to keep the dealership relationship intact for future trade-in value, some drivers choose to dealer-service for the first year or two. That’s a personal choice, not a legal requirement.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know what service is due?
Your owner’s manual lists the schedule. Or call us with your rego and kilometres and we tell you.
Will the dealer accept the stamp when I sell the car?
Yes. A Repco Authorised Service Centre stamp is recognised by every dealer in Australia for resale purposes.
What if I'm mid-warranty and the dealer says my warranty is voided because I serviced with you?
Report it to the ACCC. The dealer is breaking consumer law. We have supported customers through this exact scenario.
Do you use genuine parts?
For warranty-sensitive work, we use OEM or OEM-equivalent spec (same supplier, different packaging). For items where genuine and aftermarket are identical (oil filters from Mahle on many cars are the genuine part with a different logo), we use the cheaper option. If you specifically want genuine, tell us when you book.
What if the service reveals a problem?
We call you with a quote. You approve or decline before we do any work outside the log book scope.
