A rideshare inspection is not the same as a Safety Certificate. It covers everything a safety certificate covers plus the extra items each platform requires — cabin condition, air conditioning performance, boot space, seat belt condition in every seat, and interior cleanliness.

What Is a Rideshare Vehicle Inspection Certificate?
A Rideshare Vehicle Inspection Certificate—technically known as a Certificate of Inspection (COI). Rideshare platforms like Uber, DiDi, and Ola require drivers to complete a vehicle safety inspection before onboarding — and then regularly, depending on your local TNC compliance laws.
Rideshare services require this certificate annually and while onboarding a new vehicle to the driver’s profile.
- Meets rideshare road safety standards
- Has passed a multi-point mechanical and safety check
- Has no disqualifying issues (brake wear, bald tires, etc.)
- Complies with Uber, DiDi, or Ola vehicle eligibility
Without it, your driver account gets stuck at “pending” — or worse, deactivated. Ultimate Car Expert makes sure you’re back to earning within hours, not days.

Uber Roadworthy Certificate
Get Uber-Approved Fast: Your Roadworthy Certificate Starts Here
If you’re driving for Uber, that Uber roadworthy certificate isn’t just a checkbox—it’s your ticket to income. At Ultimate Car Expert, we break it down like this: before you can hit the road and start earning, your vehicle needs to pass a roadworthy inspection for rideshare. We’re talking brake performance, suspension integrity, tire condition, and even the state of your windshield. Why? Because Uber’s not playing around—your car needs to meet both state-level compliance and Uber-specific vehicle safety standards. Skip the guesswork. We streamline the entire rideshare certification process, eliminating the need for you to Google “where to get a roadworthy certificate near me.” Bottom line: no certificate, no trips, no money. Let Ultimate Car Expert get you certified, compliant, and on the road—fast.

Rideshare Inspection Certificate vs. Roadworthy Certificate
A rideshare inspection certificate differs from the roadworthy certificate in being more specific. Roadworthy checks are general safety checks that are conducted before the sale or transfer of registration of a car to deem it fit for the roads. A rideshare inspection certificate deems a car fit for commercial use with stricter guidelines to ensure additional comfort and presentation and checks specific to rideshare services. Rideshare companies often have their own unique checklists that must be followed during inspection.
- Uber
- DiDi
- Ola
What each platform actually requires
- Uber: Vehicles up to 9 years old for UberX. Annual inspection covering standard safety plus interior condition, air con working, and no visible body damage affecting passenger comfort.
- DiDi: Same 9-year age cap for most tiers. Inspection certificate needs to be valid within 12 months and uploaded through the driver app.
- Ola: Annual certificate required. Same scope as Uber and DiDi — safety plus rideshare-specific cabin and comfort items.
- Premium tiers (Uber Premier, DiDi Premium, Ola Select): Newer vehicle, higher cosmetic standard, leather interior typically required. We check all of this during the inspection.
If you drive for more than one platform, one inspection covers all of them — you just submit the same certificate to each app.
What we check that a standard safety certificate does not
A safety certificate tests whether the car is roadworthy. A rideshare inspection also tests whether the car is fit for paying passengers. The extras we run through:
- Air conditioning output temperature (must blow genuinely cold, not just cool)
- Every seatbelt in every seating position, not just the driver’s
- Cabin condition — no torn seats, no excessive stains, no broken trim
- Boot capacity clear and functional for passenger luggage
- Child restraint anchor points intact if advertised for family rides
- No warning lights on the dash (airbag, ABS, check engine)
- Interior odour — cigarette smoke and heavy pet smells will fail you
Common rideshare inspection fails
After doing hundreds of these, the recurring issues we see:
- Weak air conditioning: AC blowing 12°C at the vent is not "cold enough." Rideshare expects 5–8°C vent temperature. If yours is warm, you need a regas or AC repair before the inspection.
- Tyre tread: Rideshare cars cover 40,000–80,000 km a year. Tyres wear fast. Anything under 2 mm will fail and we recommend replacing at 3 mm anyway.
- Wheel alignment: Constant stop-start traffic and cornering on full-lock to collect passengers eats alignment. If the steering wheel is off centre, fix it before the inspection.
- Interior wear: Sagging driver's seat, broken glovebox, faded dash from sun exposure. Some of these are fixable, some you live with.
When to book
Most drivers book annually around the anniversary of their last inspection. If your certificate has already expired, you cannot legally accept rides — the platforms will suspend your account. We keep the calendar flexible for same-day and next-day bookings if you’re caught out.
Seasonal advice: book your inspection in late winter rather than summer. Brisbane summer is when AC systems fail, and a weak AC is an immediate fail for rideshare work. Getting the inspection in August or September gives you time to regas before the heat hits.
FAQs
How long does a rideshare inspection take?
Around 45 minutes if everything passes. Longer if there are items to re-check.
Does the certificate work for multiple platforms?
Yes. One QLD-compliant rideshare inspection certificate satisfies Uber, DiDi and Ola. Upload the same PDF to each driver app.
My car is over 9 years old — can I still drive rideshare?
Depends on the platform and the tier. UberX has a 9-year cap. Some taxi-class services accept older vehicles. Check your specific platform’s rules.
What happens if I fail the inspection?
You get the defect list and 14 days to rectify. Most rideshare drivers use us to do the repairs because the deadline is tight and we can quote on the spot.
Do you do pre-inspection checks?
Yes. If you want to know what would fail before you pay for the full certificate, book a 30-minute pre-inspection check for $49 and we’ll tell you what to fix first.
